Huixin Deng (“who-it-sing Deng”) is a Lecturer of Marketing at Royal Holloway, University of London. She received her PhD in Marketing and Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from Fudan University. Huixin’s research interests cover consumer motivation, marketing communication, and referral reward program design.

I have demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence in research with a particular focus on consumer welfare and marketing communication. My research seeks to address real-world challenges and improve consumer decision-making through innovative strategies and technologies.
My primary research pipeline explores how consumers can make better decisions with AI technology. For example, I investigate how to design AI-powered assistants that nudge individuals toward healthier eating habits and increased physical activity.
I am also deeply interested in improving communication (consumer-to-consumer, mechanism-to-consumer). My doctoral thesis examines how to design effective referral messages for senders in referral reward programs (RRPs), aiming to optimize referral effectiveness.
